With its marquee events during NYCxDESIGN, WantedDesign is a platform dedicated to promoting design and fostering the international creative community at large throughout the year.
WantedDesign has established itself as a constant and staunch supporter of U.S. and international design via events, conversations, and partners and its yearly programming aims to nurture New York City’s design dialogue.
Over the last 6 years WantedDesign has grown and evolved. We had the honor to help them with that evolution in 2016.
We started with a problem, what worked before needed a change. As WantedDesign grew so did the applications of the brand assets. Our first challenge was to modernize the logo while also increasing legibility across all applications. We also gave the client a secondary logo that could be used in situations where the primary logo looses impact.
We then set out to redefine the brand guidelines in order to give the mark the greatest legibility in any situation. Each year this book was only seen in digital formats. I was inspired by the NASA guidelines reprint by Jesse Reed & Hamish Smyth, so I decided to create a physical book that embodied the craftsmanship associated with the WantedDesign exhibitors.
Once the guidelines were finalized we updated all social media, print material (business cards and postcards), and set up a system for print ads. Then we tackled the main brochure and event signage (wayfinding, welcome signage, sponsor walls, and schedules).
